To the Iranian Embassy in Washington

In the matter of Youcef Nadarkhani, embassy personnel in Washington, DC were sent the following email.

Good morning.

I am concerned for the life of Youcef Nadarkhani.  I think it is sad that your country would kill a person because they are Christian.

I am willing to propose that, if you will spare Mr. Nadarkhani's life and arrange transportation to the United States for himself and his family, we will work hard to help him with shelter.

I don't think this is an unreasonable request.  It solves two problems.  First and most importantly, Christians place the value for life above all.  This would end the need to have Mr. Nadarkhani's life.  Second, he's out of your country and alive.  Thus he can not do anything to harm you, especially if you strip him of his Iranian Citizenship.

Do you think this can happen?

I look forward to a reply.

I'm not seeking money or stuff.  If you feel the same about this, write the Iranian officials or call them.  Maybe, if enough people offer to get him out of the country, then maybe his life will be spared.  If you'd like,  212.687.2020   is the number to the Iranian mission at the United Nations.

So far, no one from the Embassy has replied to the email.  On 13 March, I called and was told I must speak to someone at the United Nations. On 22 March, I called and left another message.

The Secretary of State has condemned his death sentence.  A number of petitions have been delivered to the Iranian government.

With the power of God Himself, this can happen.

Thoughts on #SOTU

Recently, @l3e1908 responded to the State of the Union address.

The tweet went like this:  "Washington should stop subsidizing millionaires" ... a quote from the President attributed to Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn, MD.

In response to this tweet, it was noted there's "no millionaires on food stamps."  That brought agreement from @SassiChik and @l3e1908

The thought that we can make the rich pay more is well taken.  A flat tax along all income levels would certainly level the Obama playing field.  If we take away the tax subsidies the "rich" enjoy, however, can there be a reaction to the subsidies the poor and working poor enjoy?  If we continue to tax the rich without subsidizing their return with deductions, can we expect to generate enough income to subsidize food stamps, medicaid, Medicare, day care, Supplemental Security Income, and the host of other "entitlement" or, if you will, "subsidy" programs?

The following narrative from a Facebook friend may help in understanding of how this lifestyle may be in jeopardy.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little..

The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

When was the last time you saw a Millionaire on Food Stamps?  Will the poor contribute to the deficit by giving up their subsidies?

Do you see this is becoming class warfare ... the haves versus the have nots ... with President Obama leading the charge?
